They are cold blooded.

Biology

The lizardmen are one of the few species that is cold blooded (together with the merfolk) and they are the only species who sheds their own skin. Their main concerns in life is to stay warm. Unlike the warm blooded races Lizardmen do not have to eat several times each day. Because their bodies do not constantly use energy to regulate their temperature, they can go without food for several weeks at a time as long as the do not engage in straining activities.

When their body temperature is chilled Lizardmen are calmed and better organized. When Lizardmen are warm their bodies become more active and they are much more hastened and easily angered. They are also very territorial. They will fight any unannounced invader including their own friends. This will happen regardless of how warm or cold they are. Though the discomfort may provoke a greater desire for deadly vengeance.

Physical appearance

Lizardmen have leathery skin often covered with scales. These tend to be very durable and tough. In a way it is their natural armor. However because the skin does not naturally regenerate it's scales a Lizardmen will in his life time go through several years in which many if not most of the scales are lost, leaving vulnerable areas on their bodies.

The skin of a Lizardmen tends to vary between a dark green and a brownish grey. The scaleless parts of their body are often pink like that of humans. Their Thick and ridged tail helps them balance. They do not have the ability other races share which allows them to balance efficiently. So without a tail they are unable to walk properly.

Physiology

The size of lizardmen is determined by it´s lifestyle. A lizardmen that performs allot of heavy labour grows large and bulky while a lizardmen that sneaks around, becomes small and nimble.

They also have the great advantage of regenerating limbs. As long as no vital organ is lost Lizardmen can grow any body part back within 3 months. The strength of Lizardmen is comparable to that of Ogres, however lost limbs are never as strong as the original.

Rather then having their scales grow as they become needed, Lizardmen shed their entire skin when they grow. They do this around every 40 years. Though this can be slower or faster depending on how much he or she has eaten and thus been able to grow. On average Lizardmen shed their skin four times during their life. Each time growing taller as they do so.

The average lifespan of a lizardman is 180 years. After about their 160th birthday and their forth skin change their bodies deteriorate very fast until they die, if a lizardmen is about 175 years old their bodies are numb, unfeeling and, if cared for by others, sometimes held together by rope and bandages. They usually change skin (like a snake) at around their 40th birthday, 80th birthday, 120th birthday and at the age of 160.

Diet

Lizardmen are omnivorous, they can eat anything and everything that crosses their path if hungry, this includes dead enemies and comrades.
Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 03-08-2009 17:27 Mon, 03 Aug 2009 15:27:07 +0000 Anonymous 813 at https://convergence-larp.nl https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/lizardman#comments Merfolk https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/merfolk Merfolk
The Merfolk are one of the fifteen standard <drupal-filter-placeholder callback="freelinking.manager:createFreelinkElement" arguments="0=path_alias&1=tags/race%7Craces&2=path&3=en&4=a%3A3%3A%7Bs%3A6%3A%22plugin%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%22path_alias%22%3Bs%3A7%3A%22enabled%22%3Bb%3A1%3Bs%3A8%3A%22settings%22%3Ba%3A1%3A%7Bs%3A8%3A%22failover%22%3Bs%3A5%3A%22error%22%3B%7D%7D&5=a%3A0%3A%7B%7D" token="87iGqUjOGi-Ve4xc_S_tdDvByQA0jrl1Q5LnAbzxU80"></drupal-filter-placeholder>.

Merfolk are Sea dwelling creatures. They can breath underwater and have a fishlike appearance.

Physical appearance

Merfolks are quite easy to identify as members of their species. All merfolk have fins on their legs, arms, and sides of their heads. A merfolk is cold blooded like a fish and also sport gills and have slight difficulty breathing outside of the water. Some merfolk also have small patches of scales on their upper bodies, varying in colour, where the female colour scheme is somewhat lighter then the male.

The colour of their near human upper body is usually a combination of regular skin colour and the colour of their scales (it is unknown weather the skin tone of merfolk varies in more tropical regions). Merfolks have ears pointed in the shape of fins. Some merfolks also lack a nose and have small breathing slits instead of them. Their mouth is also somewhat wider than a human´s so that they can easier swallow their food whole.

Their eyes are also quite human except for a larger pupil and smaller iris. Some merfolks also have a backfin and smaller fins on their lower arms, both used for manoeuvring underwater. Merfolks also have advanced sensory capabilities under water such as better taste of water, sight and hearing.

There are many varies forms of merfolk. Although the above form is the most common, some merfolk have no legs and instead have just 1 large tail. Others might have four legs and walk in a crab like fashion. Where the fins exactly protrude from the arms, legs, back or other places of the body might vary greatly from sub-species to sub-species. The amount of webbing between the fingers and toes might also vary greatly.

Biology

Merfolk live an average life of 100 years before dying of old age. They can breath underwater. Merfolk are omnivorous. A lot of merfolk secrete poison from their glands.

Reproduction

Merfolks reproduce in the same method as humans do, witch puts them in the mammal category. They do not lay eggs, as their fish like physique would suggest. Merfolks are pregnant for about 5 months.
Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 03-08-2009 17:27 Mon, 03 Aug 2009 15:27:07 +0000 Anonymous 812 at https://convergence-larp.nl https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/merfolk#comments Nymph https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/nymph Nymph
General

The Nymph are one of the fifteen standard <drupal-filter-placeholder callback="freelinking.manager:createFreelinkElement" arguments="0=path_alias&1=tags/race%7Craces&2=path&3=en&4=a%3A3%3A%7Bs%3A6%3A%22plugin%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%22path_alias%22%3Bs%3A7%3A%22enabled%22%3Bb%3A1%3Bs%3A8%3A%22settings%22%3Ba%3A1%3A%7Bs%3A8%3A%22failover%22%3Bs%3A5%3A%22error%22%3B%7D%7D&5=a%3A0%3A%7B%7D" token="87iGqUjOGi-Ve4xc_S_tdDvByQA0jrl1Q5LnAbzxU80"></drupal-filter-placeholder>.

Nymph are a race of beautiful humanoids with feathers growing on their heads. Children that come forth from these interracial relationships are always full blood nymphs but sometimes have slight traits hinting towards their interracial heritage. Some slemmering have been known to sleep under a single tree, eating parts of it as they wake up sporadically. An active slemmering eats massive amounts of food in an incredibly short time. A dormant slemmering however only needs a fraction of the food a normal race needs and some slemmering have even been known to take small bites in their sleep, sustaining themselves and staying healthy, without waking up, on rotting food, roots, and anything else in the nearby meter or so. A dormant slemmering sleeping in a garbage dump for example is able to sustain himself many times over simply on the food people throw away.

Active and dormant slemmering.

Slemmering have the extraordinary ability to sleep in a special trance-like state. To an outsider this state is indistinguishable from normal sleep, however, if the slemmering are within this state they don't age, need only a fraction of the food they normally need, but are still half conscious and scanning their surrounding for changes. This scanning happens primarily based on smell, and sound, however some slemmering have been known to "reverse blink" every day or so to get some visual input during this scanning process. This information is subconsciously processed by the slemmerings brain and in case of nearby danger, food, entertainment, mating opportunities or even in some rare cases, business opportunities, the slemmering is able to wake up.

Slemmering tend to stay dormant for years on end, sometimes waking for an hour or so each week to eat something. They wait for opportune moments to get rich, complimented, stuffed, laid, entertained (this could in rare cases include adventure) or even.

After they get the situation they want they stay active for years, still sleeping quite a lot more than the other races do, while enjoying their lives.

This results in the fact that active, happy slemmering live shorter lives than their dormant brothers and sisters who have not yet found what they are looking for in life.

While sleeping for a long time, slemmering might start to lose the ability to distinguish real memories from the dreams they are having. After about 4 to 12 years of living in one form the feyfolk has fully grown and can make a choice to change and become another form. After their choice, the change happens. Other feyfolk can help this process along. The process takes a few weeks, months or even years, depending on the nature of the change. Most of the changes require a form of cocoon to be in during the change. This process is very straining on the feyfolk's body, and usually takes years away from its life expectancy. After changing shape, a feyfolk should wait until they are fully grown once more, otherwise the process may deem lethal. The process also consumes a lot of energy and renders the Feyfolk involved unable to do anything else for the duration. Small changes, sometimes only cosmetic, are also possible and less straining on the body. This still takes up energy and cannot be done often.

Feyfolk Transformation

Feyfolk are only 8cm to about 40cm tall in their original form. Feyfolk however have the capacity to melt together with various death organism, and bio-waste to add mass during their forming, they also consume allot of food during this process. Feyfolk can even melt together with other feyfolk to create one larger organism, the personalities merge and are lost in the process, and a split can never again happen.

Shrinking down to a new size is relatively easier on the body, since it only has to get rid of excess mass. Large feyfolk that choose to do this can house their experiences, knowledge and higher brain functions in a temporary external cocoon for later retrieval. This external cocoon needs to be fed from time to time in order for it to remain alive.

Reproduction

The average female feyfolk can produce around twenty offspring in her lifetime, in litters of up to five. This may seem high, but mortality rates of young feyfolk are quite high due to their childlike nature (keeping track of them often proves an impossible task for the parents), their small size, their low brain capacity and the fact that they're easy prey.

Feyfolk tend to be born in their original shape but if both parents or sometimes even if only the mother is a different form, the feyfolk can also be born in that form, or in a different form altogether. This all depends on the biological makeup of the mother.

A lot of feyfolk forms don't have reproductive organs, but feyfolk do have the capacity to grow genitals regardless. Having genitals, and other reproductive organs is a conscious choice. Several ways of actual reproduction are possible depending on the form but the simple choice for feyfolk that want children is to choose a form with a standard cloaca and a system in which they have several eggs. Other possibilities include having an actual penis to inject the DNA material deep within the body of the recipient or completely different systems altogether, for example a system where the two feyfolk merge into a single being to share their DNA before extruding embryo's from the skin.

Diet

Feyfolk are biologically herbivores.

Most feyfolk forms have a digestive system geared towards the local flora and might have trouble when relocating quickly.
Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 03-08-2009 17:27 Mon, 03 Aug 2009 15:27:07 +0000 Anonymous 809 at https://convergence-larp.nl https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/feyfolk#comments Shanata https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/shanata Shanata
The Shanata are one of the fifteen standard <drupal-filter-placeholder callback="freelinking.manager:createFreelinkElement" arguments="0=path_alias&1=tags/race%7Craces&2=path&3=en&4=a%3A3%3A%7Bs%3A6%3A%22plugin%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%22path_alias%22%3Bs%3A7%3A%22enabled%22%3Bb%3A1%3Bs%3A8%3A%22settings%22%3Ba%3A1%3A%7Bs%3A8%3A%22failover%22%3Bs%3A5%3A%22error%22%3B%7D%7D&5=a%3A0%3A%7B%7D" token="87iGqUjOGi-Ve4xc_S_tdDvByQA0jrl1Q5LnAbzxU80"></drupal-filter-placeholder>.

They have an average time of life of 50 years, but Shanata can "reset" their life cycle by living fused with a tree for half a year. The Shanata digs a hole under the tree and buries him or herself in it. Once closed off and safe The Shanata will connect with the roots of the tree for life support. During the 6 months under ground the Shanata will form a cocoon out if its old skin and fur. Slowly all cells inside its body will start to create a huge amount of stem-cells that will replace most other cells in the body. The cells with the most entropy in it will be discarded in to the walls of the cocoon. A Shanata can rejuvenate its whole body except for its bones and brain-cells. Going through this cycle is very stress full for the body of a Shanata. The brain cells will also die out about twice as fast during the cycle.

Shanata that have lived trough 4 or 5 of these cycles get increasingly asocial and dumb. Most Shanta who have gone through their 7th cycle will start to behave as wild predatory animals. Shanata are not biologically strong enough to live trough their 10th cycle. Most of the Shanata naturally die at their 8th or 9th cycle.

Physical appearance

Shanata Old Form

Shanata have pointy ears, and sometimes have long sharp claws and fangs. Shanata naturally grow thick fur, long hair and long manes.

When a Shanata fuses with a tree to reset the life cycle his skin will thicken and the claws and fangs will grow. Making them look more like wild animals with each passing cycle. After a Shanata has fused with a tree it will loose its fur for a period of time. The climate of their habitat determines the time it takes for the fur to regrow.

Biology

The Shanata are energetic and highly territorial. They have less emotions when compared to the other races. Shanata babies are self sufficient to a certain degree hours from birth. They have the capacity to crawl and find bugs to eat and learn how to walk within the first few days.

Diet

Shanata are omnivorous. They tend to be very muscular, even female Ogres, much more muscular and taller compared to humans. Other distinguishing features when compared to humans are: lots of hair all over their body, one or more horns protruding from their head and large fangs in their mouths. Although nearly all of the Ogres have at least one of these features, it's not common to see an Ogre with all three. Most Ogres feature a combination of two of these features.

Biology

Ogres are more resistant to disease and infection and their wounds heal faster when compared to the other races. They also tend to shrug of wounds that might fell other races.

Ogres will grow for the better part of their life. Becoming ever larger as they grow older. On average a human size Ogre would be around 20. But their height varies greatly.

On average Ogres are less intelligent than the other races. But this is caused by outlier ogres that are less intelligent than the other races. Any individual ogre might be as intelligent as any of the other races, and the smartest ogre on any given world isn't any less intelligent than the smartest of any of the other races.

Diet

The diet of an ogre varies greatly, as they are able to eat just about anything that comes in range of their mouth. This includes raw meat, cabbage, a glass of ale after it has been emptied, and with some frequency sand, pebbles and smaller rocks. This last one is used by ogres to improve digestion.

Ogre Tribe

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 03-08-2009 17:27 Mon, 03 Aug 2009 15:27:07 +0000 Anonymous 807 at https://convergence-larp.nl https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/ogre#comments Troll https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/troll Troll
The Trolls are one of the fifteen standard <drupal-filter-placeholder callback="freelinking.manager:createFreelinkElement" arguments="0=path_alias&1=tags/race%7Craces&2=path&3=en&4=a%3A3%3A%7Bs%3A6%3A%22plugin%22%3Bs%3A10%3A%22path_alias%22%3Bs%3A7%3A%22enabled%22%3Bb%3A1%3Bs%3A8%3A%22settings%22%3Ba%3A1%3A%7Bs%3A8%3A%22failover%22%3Bs%3A5%3A%22error%22%3B%7D%7D&5=a%3A0%3A%7B%7D" token="87iGqUjOGi-Ve4xc_S_tdDvByQA0jrl1Q5LnAbzxU80"></drupal-filter-placeholder>.

They live for about 80 years before they die of old age.

Physical appearance

Trolls can be easily spotted as so, because of the colour of their skin and sometimes fairly large tusks in their lower jaw. Their biology tends to make them live primarily in enormous cities. They have three genders, called a "producer", "fertiliser" and a "breeder". They prefer being around others of their race due to their unique physiology.

Physical Appearance

Tellurians are humanoids with grey skin of different tones that has a smooth texture just after birth, but will slowly turn more and more rocky while the Tellurian ages. All three genders can grow long hair on their heads, both facial hair and on top of their head. This hair tends to have similar colours as gemstones in the earth. Black, brown and grey hair appear most often, but other colours like red, green and blue are not uncommon. It is also not uncommon for a Tellurian to have several colours of hair.

As the Tellurian ages, a process starts that will slowly crystallize the Tellurian's body. This will first result in drying out of the Tellurian's skin, which will become leathery at first and later on crack and harden even further, resulting in a rocky texture. Its hair will also dry out and clump together, forming first clumps then ridges. Eventually the hair will crystallize at the base and the rest will fall off. The same process happens to other parts of the Tellurian's body, even underneath the first layer of skin. This results in older Tellurians being covered in ridges of crystals protruding from their skin. Ancient Tellurians have been known to feature crystals of a foot or more in length on their body.

The most prominent difference in appearance between the three genders is related to their reproduction. This is very visible with the producers, who are usually larger than the other Tellurians and carry visible egg sacks on their body. Breeders can often be seen with large bellies, as they carry the maturing foetus in a pouch there. Fertilisers have no distinctive characteristics from the other genders.

Biology

As mentioned earlier, the Tellurian race features three genders. Of these three, the producers tend to be the rarest, whereas the breeders tend to be the most numerous. The producer is the most long-lived of the three genders, living to about 375 years. The fertilizer and breeder both age to about 125 years. They prefer being around others of their race due to their unique physiology.

Reproduction

Tellurians are unique among the races in that their method of reproduction more closely resembles that of ants rather than mammals. Tellurian producers grow egg-like objects on their body. These eggs are fertilized by the fertilizers. They take one of the eggs from the producer, then fertilize it using a gland at the back of their throat.

Once fertilized, the egg is placed near the producer and will hatch in about a week. The larva coming out of this egg is then put into the breeding pouch of a breeder where it will grow for nearly a year, after which it emerges from the pouch as a juvenile Tellurian.

Juvenile tellurians are small versions of their adult counterparts but with completely smooth skin and without any hair. They are able to make sounds, see, hear and walk without needing to be taught. Juvenile tellurians tend to quickly learn how to speak. However, the actual aging process takes quite a long while.

Diet

In addition to the common foodstuffs like vegetables and meat, Tellurians have a large need for several elements, like calcium. Tellurians have a unique ability to absorb these elements from minerals and rocks. Some things, like calcite, are used in their transformation process. Yet other minerals can provide them with energy, which means they can survive on rocks and water for a while before needing other types of sustenance.
Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 03-08-2009 17:27 Mon, 03 Aug 2009 15:27:07 +0000 Anonymous 804 at https://convergence-larp.nl https://convergence-larp.nl/setting/tellurian#comments
