Shrykes are ghostly white-winged creatures surrounding the more cavernous regions of the mountains of Utgard. They are supreme predators during the night and day. Sharing characteristics of both the common bat and spider, the adult Shryke is capable of lifting a man-sized creature with its' powerful hindlegs. When risen to an adequate height, the Shryke drops it's prey unto solid ground, disabling them. After landing and approaching the collapsed victim, they spin a coccoon around their body and drag them to their home cave. Young Shrykes can then feed on the blood of the victim, fangs piercing the soft silk of the coccoon so they can feed safely. The Shryke has a very thin, soft and snowy white pelt that is highly sought after by Asgardian skinners. Both the dangerous territory and the danger of the beast itself have earned the Shryke's pelt the nickname; White Silver.
Unlike standard bats, the shryke has 8 eyes to pinpoint their prey with terrible accuracy. Their bat-like wings span several feet, whereas their six legs beneath vary in size seemingly randomly, allowing them to grasp onto strange-shaped objects, mountainwalls or prey.
