Free will is the ability of mortals to act in ways that the gods cannot predict. Normally the gods can predict the movement of every single molecule within a system and with enough time to think and meditate they can see parts of the future to a certain extent because of this. Mortals with free will however can be inspired to act in ways not caused by the movement of the molecules within their brain exclusively. This ability is called free will and is granted by the gods to mortals in order to surprise the gods themselves.
Why exactly the gods want to be surprised in this manner and how exactly this process works in hotly debated amongst philosophers in Heimr.
It is known that animals and divine beings do not have free will.
It is unknown whether spirits, dead ancestors and the gods themselves have free will.
