The portal stands about two and a half meter high, it is placed on the highest hill north of Ul-Targash located in the Targash hills . The portal links to the Vortex , stepping trough it will place you and the possessions you have with you on the Vortex. The portal is ringed with a magical stone gate, infused with magical glyphs. However this stone arch no longer powers the portal like it once did and the glyphs serve no function and are devoid of magical power, it is now nothing more but a decoration around the Vortex-powered portal.
History
The great trading portal was once a portal that linked Asgard , Midgard and Utgard , simplifying trade, travel and attacks. It was, however, never designed by Asgard to transport large amount of souls. Utgard did just this by sending large armies into the portal to attack Asgard. This destabilized the portal, transporting anyone entering to random places on Heimr, sometimes in pieces, sometimes in the middle of walls or mountains, sometimes somewhere in the middle of the ocean. The secondary portals in Asgard and Utgard respectively, where instantly destroyed.
The King and Queen of Asgard tried to close the portal fearing that chaotic creatures from other realities might try and break trough otherwise, but somehow it went wrong and the portal didn't close but merely stabilized, linking to the Vortex . This catastrophic event also sucked in the King, Queen and their regiment of mages, just before the portal stabilized. For years nobody knew that they where safely transported to the lizardmen island on the other side of Heimr. (This disappearance later sparked the civil war between the Fae and Elf as the "thief king" seized this opportunity to marry the daughter of the king and queen)
