All of the fifteen gods have a good side and an evil side. From their good side, each of the gods created angels. From their evil side each god created their own deamons. For each god has a unique race of angels, and of deamons. Most of them serve the god by battling the angels and deamons of other gods, in an ever growing war for supremacy between the gods. Other angels and deamons are send down to Heimr to help a good disciples, and to punish those who refuse to pray to their god. Divine beings do not possess free will. They are created from the good or evil side of a god, and are effectively a diminished version of that side of the god.
Every god of Heimr has created two types of servants. One good and one evil. One type of angel and one type of daemon.
The angels and daemons of Heimr are the most direct servants of the gods. They have been created by the gods with a single purpose: to spread the words and deeds of their creator. Divine beings do not have a free will, they do everything their creator demands of them. Although this would suggest they are nothing but automatons, this is not true. Divine beings can act on their own initiative, they simply cannot do anything unrelated to the task given them by their creator.
Daemons are the servants of the evil side of a god. It is impossible for Daemons to commit good acts. Angels are the servants of the good side of a god. They are the opposite of daemons. It is impossible for Angels to commit evil acts unless those acts are also good.
Angels
Angels are good aligned divine beings. They cannot perform evil acts unless the acts are more good than evil. Furthermore they don't have free will and will always make decisions with the personality of the good deity.
They can however contradict each other both in actions and in words because they are not omniscient and the personality of the god is not perfectly consistent.
Daemons
Daemons are evil aligned divine beings. They cannot perform good acts unless the acts are more evil than good. Furthermore they don't have free will and will always make decisions with the personality of the evil deity.
They can however contradict each other both in actions and in words because they are not omniscient and the personality of the god is not perfectly consistent.

The Ranks
Main Article: Ranks of Divine Beings
Mortals divide the divine beings into several ranks. Ranks relate to the age and power of a divine being. The lorekeepers of Midgard were one of the first to write down a formal list of ranks, guided by knowledge from those same divine beings. They recognized eight levels of power among the divine beings and called them "ranks", similar to the "ranks" of the deities. The divine beings themselves do not see any reason for this categorization, but they usually accept it as a frame of reference for mortals, for whom it would be impossible to grasp the categorization used by these beings.
